Although original marriage records held by the NYCMA chiefly begin in the late 1840s, there are microfilm copies of marriage records dating from 1829-1866 for the City of New York. These records are in Subgroup 2, Series 2.3. Most of the vital records held by the New York City Municipal Archives date from 1847-1949.
